The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo reacted tonight to the statements from Serbia following the signing of a defense cooperation agreement between the ministers of Croatia, Albania, and Kosovo. In its statement, the Ministry condemned the statements, stating that they are "not only aggressive and threatening but also an outright violation of the Brussels Agreement," which, according to their belief, "proves Serbia's bad intentions and unwillingness to engage in a genuine dialogue."

"With these statements, Serbia undermines its commitment to building good neighborly relations with Kosovo and recognizing Kosovo's institutions and legal framework as the only valid authority," the statement posted on Facebook reads.

They also claim that Serbia's rhetoric is "filled with hegemonic tones, aiming to present itself as the dominant power in the Western Balkans," by seeking explanations from Croatia and Albania—two sovereign states, both NATO members, and one EU member.

"This behavior is completely unacceptable and represents yet another violation of the Brussels Agreement (from 2023), which clearly stipulates that Serbia will not obstruct Kosovo's international relations and will not claim to speak on behalf of Kosovo in its relations with other countries and organizations," the statement adds.

They describe Serbia's attempt to present itself as the "guarantor of peace in the Balkans" as "absurd."

Kosovo's Ministry further states that no country in the region or beyond has contributed to the destabilization of the Western Balkans more than Serbia, citing historical facts and recent events as evidence.

"From its direct participation in the aggressive wars of the 1990s, which resulted in genocide and ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Kosovo, to constant threats, military buildup near Kosovo's borders, and support for criminal and terrorist networks operating in northern Kosovo, Serbia remains the greatest threat to regional security," they state.

For them, Serbia's "claim" of neutrality is hypocritical, repeating that Serbia is deepening political and military ties with authoritarian regimes such as Russia and Iran, "countries that represent serious threats to regional and global security."

"While the democratic world is united against aggression, Serbia continues to align itself with undemocratic countries that actively work against stability in Europe and beyond," the Kosovo Ministry concludes.

They say that Serbia should "focus on respecting the agreements it claims to have accepted, abandon its hegemonic ambitions, and take real steps to become a responsible actor in the region—starting with recognizing the independence and sovereignty of Kosovo."

They also repeat their demand for the opening of the archive of the 38th Motorized Brigade of the Yugoslav Army before Serbia, as they say, "lectures others on peace and stability."

"Kosovo will not be intimidated by Serbia's threats and will continue to strengthen its security and international partnerships in cooperation with its allies," the statement adds, which was shared on the social network "X" by Minister Donika Gervalla.
