Krasniqi asks Kurti: Why are you silent about the affair of Ambassador Berishaj and why do you protect him so much?
The president of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Memli Krasniqi, published today a video in which he addressed Prime Minister Albin Kurti and asked for an answer as to why the Kosovo ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, had not been dismissed "after the financial scandal".
Krasniqi emphasized that it was not known where more than two million euros given by friends of Albin Kurti and the Self-Determination movement to Martin Berishaj from a Slovenian energy company with a branch in Serbia had ended up.
"This affair of Martin Berishaj, which was reported by the international media, causes serious doubts about the Government of Kosovo. How can we talk about respect for the rule of law, when the highest representatives of our country are involved in such financial affairs and are protected by heads of state? How does this scandal affect the image of our country, now that we are on the verge of visa liberalization and when we have applied for membership in the European Union?" Krasniqi said.
Krasniqi believes that citizens are right to ask and deserve to know how it is possible "that Berishaj received the citizenship of Kosovo in one day, and the next day was appointed ambassador to Croatia; how he passed the security verification by the competent institutions; how is it possible that the Government is so faithfully protecting Berishaj instead of removing him and bringing him to Kosovo for a serious investigation; what does the Prime Minister know about the claims that Berishaj's millions were also used for election campaigns in Kosovo, as well as the fact that the GEN company with a branch in Serbia, received contracts in Kosovo as " reward" in exchange for the money it gave Berishaj"?
Most importantly, Krasniqi asks Kurti why he is silent about this scandal and why he is so protective of his close associate, Ambassador Martin Berishaj.
