Krasniqi: With this government, 18% of citizens live in poverty and scarcity
The President of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, shared today the latest statistics provided by the European Commission in a report on poverty and scarcity in Kosovo for the previous year.
According to the "Progress Report" for Kosovo published by the European Commission earlier this month, approximately 18 percent of Kosovo's population lives below the poverty line of 45 euros per month.
Through an illustrative video, the PDK leader described this statistic as alarming and accused the current government, which is responsible for this situation, of regression.
The report highlights that the informal economy, corruption, challenges in the private sector, and weak rule of law are some of the key issues facing the Kosovo economy.
"The economic recovery of Kosovo has significantly slowed down in 2022. The reasons for this include reduced investments and a slowdown in household consumption growth due to high inflation," the document states.
