Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that there is an alarming similarity between Russia's destruction of critical civilian infrastructure in Ukraine and the recent explosion in the Ibar-Lepenac canal.

In a post on the platform "X," accompanied by a video showing the response of Pristina institutions following the explosion, Kurti mentioned that approximately 20 kilograms of explosives were used in the bombing of the canal near Zubin Potok. He added that this could have reduced electricity production by 60% and water supply by 40%.

"Approximately 20 kilograms of explosives were used in a kinetic terrorist attack last Friday on our critical infrastructure. The past week could have been very different without the swift, coordinated, and professional institutional response to mitigate the impact of the damage. As an attack on the civilian population, it could have decreased the country's energy production by 60% and affected access to water for up to 40% of the population. The similarity to Russia's targeting and destruction of critical civilian infrastructure in Ukraine is alarming," Kurti stated.

He added that while significant progress has been made, "institutional efforts to fully repair the damage and restore normalcy are still ongoing."
