Kurti: I'm not satisfied with the Prosecution; I don't know how they made decisions about the release of the Serbs from the north

Prime Minister Albin Kurti criticized the work of the Prosecution today, indicating that he did not know how they had made decisions on the release of the Serbs who had been arrested on charges of alleged violence in the north of Kosovo, Ekonomia Online reports.

Kurti told the press conference after the government session that he was generally not satisfied with the work of the Prosecutor's Office and that he did not know the details of recent acquittals.

He noted that the institutions had submitted "a large amount of information" to the investigative bodies.

"I don't want to deal with the details of specific cases, nor the details of how and when a certain decision was made. Of course, you know that I am generally not satisfied with the Prosecution. I believe that they showed some kind of passivity," Kurti said.

He added that the Prosecution would have to answer some questions.

"They would have to give answers as to how someone remains in custody for months and someone not for a month or three months, which is usually how long detention can be extended. I am not convinced of the correctness of their decision," Kurti emphasized.

In the last ten days, the Kosovo courts have decided to release four Serbs, who were arrested on charges of alleged violence during protests in front of municipal buildings in the north, from custody.

The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, yesterday appealed to the international community to influence Pristina to release the remaining Serbs who had been arrested, because there were significant reports of their mistreatment, and warned that it would be tragic if something had happened to them.
