Kurti's election campaign was financed with Slovenian money

Robert Golob's "Albanian" financial affair became internationally known last April, although he tried to keep the matter quiet, and the main media participated in it. However, already then the information reached the international public, which confirms his involvement in allegedly dubious transactions with Kosovo political representatives. This time, the news was also reported by reputable Croatian media claiming that the election campaign of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was financed with money from Slovenia, reports Nova 24 TV.
In the past, the current prime minister of Slovenia, Robert Golob, has repeatedly denied his acquaintance with the Kosovo ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, and his connection with the company in Montenegro, but now the facts are coming to light that the matter is much bigger than we imagined, and illegal financing is even mentioned. Albin Kurti's election campaign with Slovenian money, and Index.hr and Tportal.hr also write about it.
Representatives of the Democratic Union of Kosovo accused Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti of being involved in a financial affair, which has been reported by the media in Slovenia for a long time, together with Kosovo's ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, according to Index.hr.
Xhafer Tahiri, a member of the presidency of the Democratic Union of Kosovo, said at a press conference that Kurti's last election campaign was financed with suspicious money.
"This scandal is getting bigger and bigger. According to the latest information, it is about EUR 100 million from the GEN company, which is suspected of financing Kurti's campaign through a subsidiary in Tirana, where EUR 14 million was transferred," Tahiri said, according to Slovenian media citing Kosovo Online.
He then called on the executive power to investigate these allegations, which, in his opinion, undermine the integrity of the Kosovo government.
The vice-president of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Vlora Citaku, asked for explanations about the affair in which, according to the media, Kosovo's ambassador to Croatia, Berishaj, was allegedly involved. She also demanded his dismissal, saying that he is under the protection of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Koha reports.
Citaku believes that behind Ambassador Berisha is a much deeper connection between the government and the energy mafia of the countries in the region. Berishaj is a friend of Prime Minister Kurti, who personally appointed him as ambassador. Now, he is facing this scandal and is under direct scrutiny.
Just as Golob wanted to cover up the affair, the Kosovo government is also trying to do the same, but according to Citaku, "the scandal is deepening and leading to the discovery of extremely worrying facts that go beyond issues of diplomatic and personal integrity or even criminal prosecution," she told at a conference for journalists, the Slovenian media reports citing Kosovo Online.
She called for this affair to be clarified to the end, so that the image of Kosovo would not be further damaged. According to her, Kurti's government has been trying to cover up this scandal since the beginning of April 2022 (election time in our country).
Citaku reminded that yesterday the media published other information proving that the GEN company paid EUR 1,470,000 to the Ambassador Berishaj's account.
Kosovo media reported other facts about Berishaj's business relationship with the GEN company, which Berishaj was not honest about during his appearance before the investigative commission. According to this information, the GEN company deposited EUR 1,470,000 into Berishaj's account, which Berishaj did not report to the commission. With this compelling data, it is an organized cover-up.
"Yesterday, information appeared in foreign media that the GEN company financed political campaigns through fictitious accounting as part of money laundering, among other things, the election campaign of Prime Minister Albin Kurti was mentioned," Citaku said, reports Nova 24 TV.
