Democratic League of Kosovo: Together with Berishaj, Kurti is involved in a multi-million-dollar affair

Representatives of the Democratic League of Kosovo accused the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, of being involved in a financial affair together with the Kosovo ambassador to Croatia, Martin Berishaj, which had been reported by the media in Slovenia for a long time, Koha reports.

Democratic League of Kosovo presidium member Xhafer Tahiri said at a press conference that Kurti's last election campaign had been financed with suspicious money.

"This scandal is getting bigger and bigger. According to the latest information, it is about EUR 100 million from the GEN Company, which is suspected of having financed Kurti's campaign through a subsidiary in Tirana, where EUR 14 million was transferred," Tahiri said.

Tahiri supported that accusation with a report from the Slovenian portal "Prava".

He asked the executive authorities to investigate these allegations, which according to him violated the integrity of the Government of Kosovo.

Kosovo Government spokesman Perparim Kryeziu reacted after the Slovenian media "Prava" had announced that Prime Minister Albin Kurti had received millions of euros from the "GEN" Company for the Self-Determination Movement campaign, stressing that these claims were untrue.

The financial scandal related to Ambassador Berishaj was reported for the first time in April last year, on the eve of the presidential elections in Slovenia. It was then announced that the Slovenian politician, Robert Golob, had been conducting transactions from the Serbian branch of the Slovenian energy supplier GEN to Berishaj's company "MB Consulting". According to the report, 600,000 euros in cash had been withdrawn from his company, which was suspected to have been returned to Golob.
