The Kosovo Police have deported Nikola Vujovic, a member of Serbia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs from Zubin Potok, at the Merdare crossing. He was arrested last night at Brnjak and has been stripped of his Kosovo citizenship, his lawyer Bogdan Lazic confirmed to Kosovo Online, adding that Vujovic is now banned from entering Kosovo for the next five years.

Lazic stated that Vujovic was deported by Kosovo Police today around 4 p.m.

"His Kosovo citizenship was revoked, he is banned from entering Kosovo for the next five years, and all his Kosovo documents have been confiscated," said Lazic.

According to him, Vujovic was deported on the grounds that he had endangered national security.

"Due to the endangerment of national security under Article 24, paragraph 1 of the Law on Citizenship of Kosovo — because he is an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, or, as they say, of another country, and did not have approval from the relevant authorities of Kosovo," Lazic explained.

He clarified that Vujovic had not committed any act that endangered security in Kosovo, nor is there any criminal proceeding against him, and that he has a family residing in Kosovo.

"This decision by the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs violates his human rights as protected under Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights — the right to family life. This measure, I can freely say, is discriminatory and even politically motivated," said Lazic, adding that the defense will file a lawsuit before the Administrative Court within the legal deadline.

To recall, Kosovo's Acting Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, issued a decision to revoke Vujovic’s

Kosovo citizenship on the grounds of "threatening national security."

"Based on our relevant legislation on citizenship, by-laws, and recommendations of the competent institutions, today I decided to revoke the citizenship of the Republic of Kosovo from Nikola Vujovic due to the threat to our national security, as a member of the Serbian police forces," Sveçla stated.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, announced that the authorities in Pristina, acting on a direct order from Kosovo's Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, arrested three members of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and one retired police officer last night and this morning at border crossings — without any legal basis or justification, but solely as a politically motivated act of reprisal against the Serbian people.
