Lekaj: Kurti made the wrong steps in the north of Kosovo
The vice president of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Pal Lekaj, directed a series of criticisms against Prime Minister Albin Kurti regarding the current situation in the north, Reporteri reports.
"The steps taken by Kurti for that territory are completely wrong, although I say that Belgrade's policy has always thought of creating crises in order to use them in terms of the final agreement, especially for CSM. A technical problem with license plates brought us to where we are," Lekaj says.
Lekaj says "Kurti's lack of coordination with international allies brought Pristina into this situation".
"He does not have a dialogue, 18 percent of the territory of Kosovo is not under control, and with our decisions, despite the advice of the US and our international friends about license plates, we gave them space to behave like that. Although their claims have always been that the north is not controlled by Pristina, but by Belgrade. We arrived where we arrived, the departure of mayors, judges, prosecutors, municipal councils. The citizens there are left to their mercy. You see how the Kosovo police is stuck and there is no action," he added.
Speaking about the Franco-German dialogue plan between Belgrade and Pristina, Ljeka stated that he was skeptical that an agreement could be reached by March 2023.
"With this approach of the authorities and the relationship of Serbia, I doubt that there will be any agreement regarding Kosovo and Serbia. However, we said that any non-recognition agreement would extend the final agreement by another 10 years. We must stand and insist that the territory be preserved and that recognition be included in the agreement," Lekaj said.
