Maloku: The dinar issue is economic, Bislimi should not go to Brussels
Political analyst Albinot Maloku says for Kosovo Online that the issue of the dinar shouldn't be discussed at a political level because it is "of an economic nature."
"I have said before that we should not go to Brussels at a political level. Kosovo's chief negotiator Besnik Bislimi, also Kosovo's deputy prime minister, shouldn't go to Brussels to discuss matters that are internal to Kosovo. There should be a meeting between bank governors to find solutions for topics that would later imply matters of economic nature between Kosovo and Serbia at the banking level," Maloku said.
He noted that the European Union lacked a specific, sharper vision on how to approach further steps in the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
"Borrell explained his stance on the meeting with the president of Serbia and the prime minister of Kosovo. We don't have the prerequisites for a meeting at a higher level due to the lack of EU vision, which suits both Vucic and Kurti. It shouldn't be like this because we have an agreement and the Franco-German plan, despite not completing our normalization and creating a normal diplomatic relationship," Maloku added.
According to him, the issue of the dinar is an economic matter that, like any other, has turned into a political one.
"If a discussion between bank governors is held, they should know the best possible way to resolve this issue and the economic impact it has. It is an economic matter. Truth be told, this economic matter has turned into a political question. In Kosovo, we always have such situations, especially when something like this immediately turns into a political issue in communities where different communities live. The way relations between Kosovo and Serbia function needs to change," Maloku noted.
