Miljkovic: Prosecution’s presentation against four accused Serbs meant only to entertain the public, there is no actual evidence

Attorneys Predrag Miljkovic and Ljubomir Pantovic agree that the evidence presented by the prosecution in the case against Milun Milenkovic Lune, Dejan Pantic, Aleksandar Vlajic, and Miomir Vakic is unfounded and does not support the indictment.

Attorney Predrag Miljkovic, who represents Milun Milenkovic, commented on the prosecution’s presentation of evidence today, saying it serves only to entertain the public because there is absolutely no substantive evidence.

“The Special Prosecutor put together a sort of presentation, and I believe it serves only to entertain the public, because there is absolutely nothing in it as far as real evidence is concerned. In the photos and videos shown to us, there are groups of people whose faces are not visible, who cannot be identified. The prosecutor has stitched, pieced, and glued this material together in an attempt to claim that Milun Milenkovic was somewhere in the footage doing something incriminating,” Miljkovic said.

He added that they had insisted on being shown two pieces of material evidence that have still not been presented.

“We haven’t received one of the material pieces of evidence since the start of the trial, and we have insisted that it be shown during the proceedings. One of these is an alleged Viber message in which Milun supposedly said he was the leader of the Northern Brigade. But from the forensic report on Milun Milenkovic’s phone, we can see that the phone was empty. I don’t understand how you can extract a Viber conversation from an empty phone,” Miljkovic said.

Attorney Ljubomir Pantovic emphasized that the indictment is not supported by evidence.

“We are dealing with an indictment that is absolutely unacceptable and entirely unsupported by any evidence. Everything falls into the realm of the prosecution’s illusions and imagination, which is trying at all costs to turn an evidence-free situation into one where the accused are declared guilty. I have been a lawyer for 30 years, and believe me, even I was surprised that this indictment passed the pretrial review stage. The indictment is absolutely unacceptable,” Pantovic said.

The trial of the Serbs accused of terrorism resumed today at 1:30 p.m. after a recess.
