Mojsilovic with Barduani: KFOR should protect Serbs and Serbian religious, cultural, and historical heritage
The Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovic, met in Belgrade with the new KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, from whom he requested that international forces consistently and impartially implement their mandate and protect Serbs and Serbian religious, cultural, and historical heritage in Kosovo.
This is the first meeting between the two generals since Barduani assumed the role of commander of international forces in Kosovo in mid-October, the Serbian Ministry of Defense announced.
According to the statement, the two interlocutors discussed the current security situation in Kosovo and the joint activities of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR.
"Mojsilovic pointed out that, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the Military Technical Agreement, as well as other signed agreements, KFOR is the only legitimate armed formation in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija. He requested that the newly appointed KFOR Commander ensure that international forces consistently and impartially carry out their mandate and, above all, protect Serbs and Serbian religious, cultural, and historical heritage in the province," it is emphasized.
Noting that the security situation in Kosovo is unstable and sensitive, Mojsilovic pointed out that the greatest threat to security comes from unilateral and provocative actions by Kosovo's institutions aimed at changing the ethnic structure in northern Kosovo.
"Mojsilovic congratulated General Barduani on his new appointment and expressed hope that during his tenure at the helm of the International Security Forces, cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR will be professional and aimed at preserving peace and stability in the region," the statement added.
