Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovic, stated today during talks with senior UK Ministry of Defence official Lord Coaker that the Serbian Armed Forces consistently adhere to the Military-Technical Agreement and all signed agreements, and recognize KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Defence of Serbia, the discussions between General Mojsilovic and Lord Coaker covered the security situation in the region and globally, the modernization and transformation of the Serbian Armed Forces into a modern and credible military force, as well as possibilities for cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and the British Armed Forces.

“Speaking about the situation in our southern province, the Chief of the General Staff emphasized that the Serbian Armed Forces, as a credible and reliable partner, consistently adhere to the Military-Technical Agreement and all signed agreements and, in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution 1244, recognize KFOR as the only legitimate armed formation in Kosovo and Metohija,” the statement said.

The talks also assessed as successful the joint engagement of members of the two armed forces in the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Cyprus, as well as the participation of British troops in the “Platinum Wolf” exercise series, held annually at the “Jug” base near Bujanovac.

General Mojsilovic conveyed to Lord Coaker—who is also responsible for international relations and defence diplomacy within the UK Ministry of Defence—that the Serbian Armed Forces are open to cooperation with all partners, while respecting the military neutrality of Serbia.

The meeting was also attended by the British Ambassador to Belgrade, Edward Ferguson.
