Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilovic, held talks today with the commander of NATO’s Joint Force Command Naples, U.S. Admiral George Wyckoff, with particular focus on the security situation in Kosovo.

According to a statement by the Serbian Armed Forces, the meeting discussed cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR in monitoring the situation on the ground and preventing the escalation of a crisis.

In this regard, the statement emphasized the importance of open and direct communication between the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, the commander of the Joint Force Command in Naples, and the commander of KFOR.

The meeting at the General Staff Headquarters also addressed the security situation in the region and prospects for further cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and NATO’s Joint Force Command Naples.

It was assessed that the established relations are constructive and serve the purpose of preserving peace and stability in the region, and both sides expressed readiness to further enhance cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

General Mojsilovic and Admiral Wyckoff then visited the Borovac training ground and the “Jug” base, where the guest was presented with modern training and exercise capacities developed in part through donations from the United States.

Admiral Wyckoff, who also serves as commander of the U.S. Naval Forces Europe and Africa, was received earlier today in separate meetings by the Commander-in-Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces and President of the Republic, Aleksandar Vucic, and by Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic.

This is Admiral Wyckoff’s first visit to Belgrade since assuming the post of commander of NATO’s Joint Force Command Naples in mid-November last year.
