Muhaxhiri: Kosovo must show greater willingness to cooperate with the US to improve relations
Political analyst Artan Muhaxhiri believes that the absence of a nomination for a US ambassador to Kosovo is a message to Pristina that Kosovo must make a much greater effort toward the US administration if relations are to improve and return to the normal level they enjoyed in the past.
Muhaxhiri told Kosovo Online that it is very clear that President Donald Trump's administration generally has far less interest in Kosovo's political scene than the previous administration did.
For that reason, he believes, the position of US ambassador in Pristina has remained unfilled for so long.
“It is a clear message from the Trump administration to Kosovo that there must be many positive, progressive, and new steps, as well as a stronger commitment from Kosovo's leadership, especially Prime Minister Kurti, to demonstrate greater willingness and develop more plans for cooperation with the United States. This is particularly important in geostrategic issues such as the gas sector, which is very important to the United States, as well as in other geopolitical matters,” Muhaxhiri assessed.
