Professor of Sociology at the University of Pristina, Artan Muhaxhiri, said that the issue of license plates turned into a very big problem because, according to him, there was no will for political flexibility and creativity, Ekonomija online reports.

Muhaxhiri says that in processes where delicate agreements between Kosovo and Serbia are concerned, the most important thing is the "balance of power".

"The power of Kosovo is known in relation to the power of the EU, the USA and other relevant factors. It is completely senseless that Prime Minister Kurti found the courage to try to impose the topic of the Franco-German plan on them in this way, when it is known that such cases are approached very gradually. Balances, harmonization must be maximal and multidimensional, so that there is progress in fundamental issues," Muhaxhiri told Radio Free Europe.

He adds that the non-alignment of the decisions of the Government of Kosovo with the positions of the USA and the EU regarding license plates can turn into a "bad boomerang" for Kosovo itself.

"The biggest political disaster in this case is that for the first time, after 30 years, the United States of America, the EU and Serbia are at one pole, while at the other pole, as their opponent, is Kosovo. So it is completely inexcusable that Kurti  brought himself to this losing position politically, because it is absolutely clear that he cannot win politically, if he has the United States of America and the EU as political opponents," Muhaxhiri pointed out.
