Danijela Nikolic, Chair of the Committee on Kosovo and Metohija of the National Assembly of Serbia, condemned today's arrests of Serbs in Kosovo, stating that they represent a continuation of the open political persecution of the Serbian people by the regime of Albin Kurti.

In a statement, Nikolic pointed out that whenever Kurti is confronted with political problems, setbacks, or his own inability to provide citizens with a normal life, he resorts to arresting Serbs.

"This is no longer a matter of the rule of law, but rather a premeditated campaign of intimidation and ethnically motivated institutional pressure against the Serbian people. Kurti has nothing to offer except long-barreled weapons, special police units, and fabricated proceedings. Unable to build trust and coexistence, he is attempting through force, arrests, and manufactured indictments to reshape reality and portray Serbs as the default culprits for all problems in Kosovo and Metohija," Nikolic stated.

She emphasized that it is particularly concerning that such actions are carried out selectively, almost invariably targeting Serbs, while crimes committed against Serbs remain without investigation, justice, or accountability.

"Such conduct represents a gross violation of fundamental human rights and a direct blow to every effort aimed at normalizing relations. It is clear that the purpose of these arrests is to instill fear among Serbs, accelerate their departure, and create the impression that there is no place for the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija. This is a policy of persecution, not a policy of peace," Nikolic said.

She called for an immediate response from the international community, the European Union, EULEX, KFOR, and all organizations mandated to protect peace and human rights in Kosovo.

"Their silence is becoming complicity in the daily violation of the rights of Serbs. The Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija have endured far more difficult times than Kurti's political spectacles. They were not broken by KLA terror, nor will they be broken by Kurti's handcuffs. Serbs will remain and endure on their ancestral lands, and every attempt to intimidate them only further confirms that Kurti has become a symbol of a policy of hatred, revenge, and ethnic intolerance toward everything Serbian," Nikolic concluded.
