In Kosovo Polje, the house of pensioners Jordan and Slobodanka Ristic, one of the few remaining Serbian families still living in this town, was broken into today, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

According to the statement, despite pressure, the Ristic family did not leave Kosovo Polje nor sell their property, but remained living there surrounded by Albanians.

“When they returned to their home today from visiting their daughter, they found their apartment devastated and ransacked, with household items taken, the television removed, and even the faucets torn out of the walls,” the statement reads.

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced that it would assist the Ristic family in compensating for the damage, as this robbery—according to the statement—also represents a blow to their livelihood.

“This is a new ethnically motivated incident carried out by Albanians, and hardly a day passes without a new attack on Serbs being recorded, especially south of the Ibar River. The fact that such attacks remain unresolved and unpunished only encourages new incidents and extremists, and shows that there is no genuine intention on the part of Pristina to build sustainable coexistence,” the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concludes.
