The Office for Kosovo and Metohija condemned the attack on Miroslav Gudzic in Donja Gusterica, stressing that it represents yet another indication of the deteriorating security situation in Serbian communities and rising interethnic tensions.

“The Office for Kosovo and Metohija condemns the attack on Miroslav Gudzic that occurred today in Donja Gusterica, when, according to his own testimony, this Serb was beaten within the premises of the local clinic in this Serbian village by a group of Albanians. On the same occasion, an employee of the healthcare institution who attempted to assist him also sustained injuries,” the statement reads.

It is emphasized that this ethnically motivated incident follows a series of anti-Serb actions by the regime in Pristina, as well as attacks against Serbs that remain unresolved or inadequately sanctioned, which has an encouraging effect on perpetrators who treat Serbs as targets.

“This is yet another indication of the deteriorating security situation in Serbian communities and the escalation of interethnic tensions,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.

The injured received medical treatment at the Clinical Hospital Center in Gracanica, where Gudzic will remain under observation given that he sustained head injuries.

“Our representatives on the ground immediately established contact with Gudzic’s family in order to provide support and, together with them and the hospital management, discuss the health condition and the extent of the injuries sustained,” the Office stated.
