The Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of Serbia announced that "the so-called Basic Court” in Pristina today found Serb Zoran Vukotić from Vučitrn guilty and sentenced him to ten years in prison for an alleged war crime".

The Office points out that this is a retrial due to numerous violations of procedural rights of Vukotić.  Also it is said from the Office that "the court in Pristina only cares that one Serb be declared guilty as part of a general attempt to criminalize all Serbs from the area of Kosovo and Metohija".

"Therefore, this verdict, from which the political influence that accompanied the entire first trial of Vukotić cannot be ruled out, represents an attempt to create artificial symmetry with the criminals of the terrorist KLA whose leaders are on trial for heinous crimes against Serbs," it was said the statement.

Vukotić's lawyer, who was hired by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, will appeal this verdict, as well as the previous trial, because Vukotić deserves the right to a fair trial.
