Orlic: Being on Serbia's side today means being on international law's side

The President of the National Assembly of Serbia, Vladimir Orlic, met today with the President of the Standing Committee for Economy, Budget and Finance of the Council of the National Assembly of Belarus, Tatiana Runets, and the Ambassador of Belarus to Serbia, Valery Brylev, who he informed about the current situation in Kosovo and the dangerous provocations of Pristina, which violated all the signed agreements, the Parliament of Serbia announced.

"Serbs are also physically threatened - people are beaten, arrested, their lives are destroyed because of a "verbal offense", and their property is confiscated. The ultimate goal of this terror is clear, to expel the Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. Serbia will not allow this, and it stands strongly with its people. That is the message of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the entire country," Orlic said.

The President of the Standing Committee and Ambassador Brylev confirmed the principled position on the non-recognition of Kosovo as a state, and their continued support for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, for which Orlic thanked.

"Being on the side of Serbia today means being on the side of international law," he said.

As said in the statement, the bilateral relations of the two countries and their further improvement through inter-parliamentary cooperation, primarily through the parliamentary friendship groups active connecting, were also on the agenda of the talks. In this regard, Orlic expressed satisfaction that Tatiana Runets is also a member of the Working Group for Cooperation with the Parliament of Serbia in the Parliament of Belarus.

Orlic also informed the interlocutors about Serbia's economic successes.

"The budget for 2023 reflects in the best way the state politics we have pursued in previous years, but also the big plans we have for the future. We wish the successes that Serbia has achieved to everyone else," Orlic said.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 60th General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.
