President of the Serbian Assembly Vladimir Orlic met today with the President of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, expressing gratitude for the principled stance of Cyprus regarding the respect for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty. Orlic stated that Cyprus could always count on Belgrade's support in that regard.

Orlic also expressed appreciation for Cyprus's clear position and support before the Council of Europe.

He briefed President Christodoulides on the difficult situation in Kosovo.

"During this year, nearly 13% of the Serbs from northern Kosovo have left their homes due to the terror they face daily. Since Albin Kurti came to power in Pristina, close to 450 ethnically motivated attacks against the Serbs have been recorded", Orlic pointed out, as reported by the Serbian Parliament.

He emphasized that, under extremely difficult conditions, Belgrade was trying to defend peace and stability and remained consistent in its efforts to preserve dialogue.

"Numerous world and European officials today unequivocally confirm that such a responsible approach is shown exclusively by Belgrade or President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic. While safeguarding peace, we want to preserve our people, and we will always clearly emphasize our red lines and respect the Constitution of Serbia at all times", Orlic stated.

President Christodoulides emphasized that Cyprus's stance on Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, i.e., non-recognition of Kosovo, would not change.

He thanked Serbia for the support provided to Cyprus and stated that, based on mutual understanding, intensive work should continue to strengthen comprehensive cooperation, primarily in the fields of military industry, trade, and tourism.

He also expressed gratitude to President Orlic for the warm welcome and hospitality.

"In Belgrade, I am always among friends", the President of Cyprus said.

Orlic expressed confidence that his visit would provide a strong impetus for further improvement in overall relations, based on strong friendship, mutual trust, and historically confirmed closeness between the two peoples.

Orlic and Christodoulides welcomed the announced holding of the third joint session of the two governments in Belgrade, as well as the signing of a series of memoranda of understanding, which represented another confirmation of Serbia and Cyprus's readiness to further intensify mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas.

The interlocutors also expressed satisfaction with the excellent cooperation between the Serbian Parliament and the Parliament of Cyprus, as well as the intensive contact and dynamic exchanges of visits and meetings at all levels.
