Osmani presented the OSCE plan: Withdrawal of Special forces, resignation of the mayors, then elections

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia and the Chairman of the OSCE, Bujar Osmani, published today a nine-step road map for de-escalation and normalization of the situation and achieving permanent peace and stability in Kosovo, some of the points being that Kosovo withdraw Special Police Forces, and Serbia to reduce combat readiness, as well as for mayors in the north to resign during the summer, paving the way for extraordinary municipal elections.

Osmani published the OSCE proposal on Twitter, the first point of which stipulates that Kosovo and Serbia reaffirm their adherence to the basic agreement and the Ohrid Protocol.

"Kosovo withdraws the forces of the Special Police, while Serbia reduces the combat readiness of the Armed Forces", it is stated in the second point, while the third foresees that the regular police, with the help of KFOR and EULEX, take care of security on the ground.

"Protests canceled; municipal functions and services restored. Normal life continues. Access to municipal officials enabled," the fourth step reads.

The points five and six call for the mayors to resign in the summer of this year, paving the way for special municipal elections, and then special municipal elections to be held this year.

"The OSCE supports the electoral process, strengthening trust between communities. The OSCE includes youth in reconciliation programs and processes and supports the benevolent implementation of agreed provisions and the continuation of meaningful dialogue," the last three points state.
