Pendarovski: We want to send more soldiers to Kosovo

President of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, stated that North Macedonia wanted to send more soldiers to Kosovo as part of the international military mission KFOR.

Pendarovski, in an interview on TV21's "Klik Plus," among other things, mentioned that Kosovo would certainly be one of the topics in the upcoming United Nations Security Council meeting.

"We are fortunate and have the favorable circumstance that we are members of NATO and receive briefings from the EU Security Council. In addition to the Israel-Hamas war, the topic will be northern Kosovo, and the topic will also be Ukraine. We want to send more soldiers to Kosovo," Pendarovski announced.

He added that neighboring Albania might make more progress than North Macedonia on its path towards the European Union.

"I'm concerned that we cannot reach an internal national consensus at key crossroads. We can argue about everything, but we should not argue about national interests," Pendarovski said.

According to his words, in the autumn of 2019, he requested a new methodology, and it was clear that North Macedonia wouldn't receive the green light.

"At the request of several political parties, we called a meeting in which we stated our commitment to EU membership once again. Regardless of what happens, we are pro-EU. The debate lasted less than an hour. We had a very constructive meeting. No one had any issues until they went home, and then the accusations started," Pendarovski said.
