Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that the ruling of the Basic Court in Pristina to ban the display of the Serbian flag and Serbian symbols in Gracanica during the celebration of the most important Serbian holiday, Vidovdan, is directly aimed against the Serbian people and shows the anti-Serb and fascist face of Albin Kurti’s regime.

Petkovic emphasized that while Albanian extremists “paint graffiti of the terrorist KLA on Serbian homes, children’s playgrounds, and schools, and wave the flags of this criminal organization daily,” and while Albin Kurti displays the flag of the so-called Greater Albania at his rallies, the authorities in Pristina are bothered by the Serbian flag and the peaceful celebration of Vidovdan.

“Every year, Kurti’s henchmen intensify their repression of Serbs, especially in the lead-up to Vidovdan, conducting an open hunt for everything Serbian through fabricated arrests and the lynching of pilgrims. Now they are targeting Serbian national symbols, with the aim of erasing Serbian traces in Kosovo and Metohija, while also trying to mask their own political failures and further escalate tensions,” Petkovic stated.

He added that with such actions, Kurti seeks to incite tensions, create unrest, and intimidate the Serbian people.

“As the Serbian people say – ‘on Vidovdan, everything becomes clear’ – and now the criminal and anti-Serb face of Albin Kurti’s regime is clearly visible. The Office for Kosovo and Metohija will inform all international representatives of this latest escalatory move and demand a decisive response, because nowhere else in the world is the display of national flags and symbols, especially during holidays, prohibited, except in Albin Kurti’s provisional setup,” Petkovic declared.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija added that this represents a dangerous and systematic institutional disenfranchisement of the Serbian people in Kosovo, but that regardless of the repression Kurti carries out, “he cannot erase the Serbian tricolor from the hearts of every honorable Serb in Kosovo and Metohija.”
