Petkovic with Elgersma on Pristina’s escalatory moves: They want to expel Serbs with institutional terror
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, met today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Martijn Elgersma, to brief him on the course of the Belgrade–Pristina dialogue being conducted in Brussels, as well as on all of Pristina’s escalatory actions against the Serbian people that undermine peace and disrupt the normalization of relations, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.
According to the statement, Petkovic particularly emphasized that Belgrade expects the international community to exert pressure on Pristina to stop its unlawful and unilateral actions that harm the Serbian people in Kosovo, and instead to begin forming the Community of Serb Municipalities, which Serbs have been waiting for 12 years.
“The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija conveyed to his interlocutor that Pristina does not want to reach any compromise or sustainable agreement within the framework of the dialogue, but rather, through daily escalatory moves, arbitrary arrests, political persecution of the Serbian people and representatives of the Serb List, as well as institutional and physical terror, seeks to expel the Serbian population from Kosovo and Metohija and thereby complete its policy of ethnic cleansing,” the Office stated.
“For us, dialogue remains the most important platform for resolving all open issues between Belgrade and Pristina, but dialogue requires good will and reliability from both sides, which is something Pristina unfortunately fails to demonstrate. Instead, it continues to pursue a policy of force, unilateral actions, and provocations,” Director Petkovic concluded.
