The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that with today’s violent raid on social welfare centers in all four northern municipalities, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has directly targeted the most vulnerable and disadvantaged categories of Serbs – beneficiaries of various social aid programs.

"With this escalatory move, Kurti has continued his policy of violence against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic emphasized.

He added that nearly 9,000 people rely on social assistance, child benefits, one-time aid, and caregiver support – financial aid that is essential for their survival.

"Kurti's nervousness is evident due to his electoral debacle and the growing criticism from the international community, particularly from the US, directed at his regime and him personally. This attack also aims to undermine the victory of the Serb List, with the clear objective of stripping it of one mandate. It is obvious that counting votes for 11 days and openly manipulating the results was not enough for Kurti – now he is using Serbian institutions to create further disorder," Petkovic noted.

He stressed that by attacking the most socially vulnerable institutions, Kurti is also directly confronting the US and the EU, both of which have repeatedly stated that Serbian institutions can only be addressed within the framework of forming the Community of Serb Municipalities, and not through violent and unilateral closures.

"We particularly emphasize that no beneficiary of social assistance will lose the benefits provided by the state of Serbia, nor will employees of the social welfare centers be left without their salaries. Additionally, we will provide all necessary legal aid and other forms of support to the employees of these institutions," Petkovic concluded.
