Petkovic: Kurti once again admitted he is not interested in dialogue and is doing everything to undermine it
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has once again, through his statement today, acknowledged that he is not interested in dialogue and that everything he does is aimed at undermining the dialogue and all achievements made so far, while simultaneously attempting to “pull the wool over the eyes” of the international community by shifting responsibility onto Belgrade.
“It is hypocritical for Pristina, on the eve of the 13th anniversary of the signing of the First Brussels Agreement on the normalization of relations, and after 4,728 days during which the Community of Serb Municipalities has not been established, to accuse Belgrade of anything,” Petkovic stated clearly.
In his statement, he further pointed out that everything Kurti says and does demonstrates that he is merely simulating dialogue, while in reality representing a side that seeks neither compromise nor the achievement of sustainable solutions.
“Belgrade is the responsible party in the dialogue process conducted in Brussels, aimed at normalizing relations and improving the lives of people in Kosovo and Metohija. However, it is Pristina, led by Kurti, that has for years sabotaged this process by imposing non-existent conditions and ultimatums, and by taking escalatory steps, solely to evade its own obligations and responsibility,” Petkovic said.
He also emphasized that the fundamental principle guiding Belgrade’s actions is the preservation of peace and stability.
“Belgrade, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, has never conditioned the dialogue, but has consistently and in principle advocated for the implementation of all signed and agreed arrangements. As a credible party in the dialogue, Belgrade has fulfilled all of its obligations to date, and it is now Pristina’s turn to begin implementing the agreements, starting with those signed 13 years ago, the most important of which is the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities,” Petkovic concluded.
Earlier today, Kurti stated that the dialogue with Serbia has made significant progress, but also noted that in Brussels there had not only been dialogue, but also agreements which, as he emphasized, were accepted but not signed.
“We already know that the dialogue has progressed substantially, as it has resulted in agreements. In Brussels, we did not have only dialogue, but also agreements. It is another matter that the President of Serbia accepted the agreement but refused to sign it,” Kurti said.
