Petkovic: Pointing long guns at children is Kurti's message of peace and democracy

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that the detention and excessive use of force by the Kosovo police against Serbian youth in Leposavic is yet another confirmation that Pristina's operations in northern Kosovo do not aim to establish order, peace, or the rule of law, but rather have a singular goal of "terror without restraint or limits" to force Serbs to leave their homes.

"The unprovoked violence by special police against Serbian youth is a terrifying symptom of the ideological fanaticism and chauvinistic nature of the regime in Pristina, and an illustration of the very essence of Kurti's policy of hatred and violence," Petkovic said.

He stated that this terrible event in Leposavic is not an isolated incident but a predominant policy, and it is not excessive use of force but a daily pattern of police behavior in northern Kosovo.

"Pointing long guns and using tear gas against children is Kurti's message of peace and democracy, or at least it is read as such by those who wish to reward Pristina's actions with membership in international organizations. It is high time to face the truth and acknowledge that any support for Kurti's chauvinistic actions is complicity in creating a dark province in the heart of Europe, where every logic is nullified and every positive value has turned into its opposite," emphasized the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

He added that Belgrade once again seriously and with great concern appeals to responsible actors in the international community to prevent Kurti from continuing his campaign of hatred and violence against the Serbian people in Kosovo, as without such intervention, stability and peace in the Western Balkans region are on the brink of collapse.
