Petkovic: The Serbian people will respond to Kurti’s use of force with even greater unity

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, assessed that the takeover of Serbian Railways facilities in northern Kosovo is part of Albin Kurti’s pre-election campaign ahead of the June 7 elections, and stated that such moves demonstrate fear of the election results and of the unity of the Serbian people.

“It is obvious that Albin Kurti’s rating and campaign ahead of the June 7 elections are collapsing rapidly, since on the first day of the pre-election campaign he decided to strike at Serbian institutions and Serbian Railways facilities in Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija. This bandit-like attack today also shows his fear of the election results and of the unity of the Serbian people that is felt in all Serbian areas in Kosovo and Metohija,” the statement from Petkovic reads.

He said that such actions will not stop the state of Serbia from helping its people in Kosovo.

“These desperate moves show the depth of the lack of ideas in the policy of Albin Kurti and his servant Nenad Rasic, which is based solely on blatant violence against Serbs and on shows of force with long barrels in front of Serbian institutions. Rasic has never said a word against the seizure of Serbian property, but has personally, with both hands, voted for similar decisions by Kurti. Kurti will never succeed in preventing the state of Serbia from helping its people in Kosovo and Metohija, and all workers in the Serbian Railways facilities that were targeted today will continue to receive all benefits and salaries as before,” Petkovic said.

He added that in response to Kurti’s open violence and force, the Serbian people will respond with even greater cohesion and unity.

“And with even stronger support for our Serb List, which is the only one fighting for the interests of the Serbian people. Therefore, this panic-driven attack by Kurti on Serbian facilities shows why all Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija should even more strongly support the Serb List and stand under one banner,” Petkovic said.
