Predrag Pantic expects that his father Dejan, who is currently under house arrest in North Mitrovica, will soon be allowed to defend himself from freedom.

In an interview for Kosovo Online, Predrag Pantic says that the family knows that Dejan is innocent and that he is being blamed for what he did not commit.

"We expect that the court will allow my father to defend himself from freedom, even though the lawyers are announcing that it is difficult considering the crime he is charged with," Predrag says.

He says that it is easier for Dejan that he is now at home after three weeks of detention in the police station, but that it is not freedom.

"It is much easier that he is here with us, surrounded by his family and our support, but it is not freedom. We all hope that we will be able to walk around the city together with my father. Before this, my father was active, he walked every day, socialized with people, went for coffee, and now he misses all that, and being closed is mentally difficult for him. We hope there is justice and that he will be able to do all that soon, but we are also afraid that too much hope might be a disappointment, so we are cautious in our hopes," Predrag told us.

He adds that everything turned upside down in an instant.

"Our whole life turned upside down, and our family has been suffering a lot for a month. My father is a man with a deteriorating health condition and high blood pressure, and every check-up and going to the doctor requires requests to the court, approval, and then a police escort, all that is hard for my father and for us, but it's better that he's with us and that's what is good in all this misfortune," Predrag says.
