President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, expressed gratitude today to the President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadera, for his country's firm stance on respecting Serbia's territorial integrity.

"Thank you for firmly respecting the territorial integrity of Serbia. This is extremely important for us. By doing so, you respect the UN Charter and all resolutions adopted in the UN General Assembly," Vucic stated at a joint press conference with the President of the Central African Republic.

He noted that Serbia fully supported the territorial integrity of the Central African Republic.

He thanked President Touadera for his visit to Serbia, emphasizing that Serbia highly values its friendship with the Central African Republic.

"Our relations with African countries are among our priorities, and we will do everything to deepen our relationships, both with the Central African Republic and with other African countries. Serbia takes pride in its legacy as a sincere, true friend of the African continent," Vucic emphasized.

He observed that it was time to renew bilateral agreements signed in 1968 and 1972 after many decades, demonstrating the close ties between the two countries and what they can achieve together.

Vucic stated that Serbia will always assist the Central African Republic in any way possible.

"I know how well you understand the geopolitical situation, better than many, and I am grateful for your openness, as well as for believing in Serbian scientists and the knowledge of our people," Vucic remarked.

He expressed confidence that the two countries would be able to achieve much in the future in their mutual interest.

"I would ask you to elevate our diplomatic contact through all institutions, organizations, and agencies worldwide to the level of permanent consultations so that we can assist each other. We always vote for the proposals of others, respecting not only the integrity of our countries but also looking for the best way to collectively create our political interests," Vucic emphasized.

Touadera: Serbia and the Central African Republic should follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and strengthen their friendship

President of the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadera, emphasized that his country and Serbia should follow in the footsteps of their predecessors and further strengthen the friendship established in the 1970s.

He expressed gratitude for the sincere and warm welcome and voiced his belief, noting the arrival of spring in Serbia, that cooperation between the two countries "will bloom like the blossoms in Belgrade."

"After several years of hibernation, the time has come to revive economic, political, and technical cooperation between our two countries," Touadera stated.

He paid tribute to former President of the SFRY, Josip Broz Tito, and recalled the "glorious decades" of cooperation between the SFRY and the Central African Republic, which, he said, had left a great impression on his compatriots.

Touadera noted that during Tito's time, many diplomatic missions had been opened in his country, and numerous projects had been realized, expressing confidence that the former cooperation could be achieved again today.

"Today, we are here to follow the examples of our predecessors. Your government has taken a great step by participating in peacekeeping missions," he stated.

He took the opportunity to express his condolences to the family of Dr. Olivera Jovanovic, who died from malaria in his country, where she had come only to help.

"My goal is to establish concrete cooperation, and I see that we share the same feelings about this. On March 30, 2016, and 2021, I expressed my views in my country regarding complete independence, sovereignty, and independent decision-making of my country, with the desire to achieve peace, economic development, and cooperation with all fair countries. My visit fits into that dynamic and represents the will of my country to further open its borders to Serbian investors," Touadera stated.
