Qafoku: It Is normal for the KSF and the Albanian Army to train together, they are two countries and one people
Analyst and host of the show "Decalogue" on Albanian Radio Television, Roland Qafoku, stated that the Serbian Army's exercise on the Pester Plateau can be interpreted as a warning or provocation, while he sees the exercises of the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) and the Albanian Armed Forces (AAF) as a normal process of joint training because, he says, they are two states and one people.
"It is entirely normal for the army of Kosovo and the army of Albania to have joint training. Here in Albania, we consider Albania and Kosovo to be two states and one people. I think we should be more concerned about the Serbian army conducting maneuvers on the border with Kosovo, in the hottest spot in the Balkans, the second hottest spot on the continent, and perhaps one of the hottest in the world," Qafoku told Kosovo Online.
Commenting on the military exercises conducted by the Serbian Army and the joint exercises of the KSF and AAF within about twenty days of each other, Qafoku said that such a "coincidence" raises "many questions."
"There are many question marks. This can also be understood as the Serbian army's training on the border with Kosovo being a warning or even a provocation. It seems that Serbia is not pleased with the joint training in Albania, near Tirana," said Qafoku.
He added that the exercise at the Biza base does not pose a potential threat to anyone and was not held in secret, as Albania, being a NATO member, is under constant surveillance by the Alliance's command in Brussels, which has information about every military training exercise taking place on Albanian territory.
"Every action of the Albanian army is monitored by NATO. This is one of the obligations of NATO member countries, which means that the NATO command in Brussels oversees every military action of each member. No one can think that this joint exercise of the armed forces of Kosovo and Albania took place secretly in some 'corner' of Albania without NATO knowing about it. No. The Alliance has the information, and NATO supports and encourages any cooperation it considers normal. We are two countries, but we are one people. We know that NATO monitors Albania's air and maritime borders. This has even brought criticism within the country that not everything should be done by NATO. Undoubtedly, NATO has information about this joint military training," concluded Qafoku.
