Ramabaja: Political agreement, not stubbornness, needed to resolve the crisis
Political analyst Sadri Ramabaja assessed that the leaders of the parliamentary parties are aware they are facing a complex political situation created, in his view, by the Constitutional Court's interpretation, and that overcoming the crisis requires a broad political agreement rather than persistence in opposing positions, Dukagjini reports.
Speaking to TV Dukagjini, Ramabaja said the leaders of three or four parliamentary political forces clearly understand that they are caught in a political trap created, according to him, by the Constitutional Court's interpretation imposing a quorum requirement that is not in line with the spirit of the Constitution.
"The leadership of three or four parliamentary political forces clearly understands that it is trapped in a political situation created by the Constitutional Court through this imposed quorum, which is not in the spirit of the Constitution. Everyone realizes that this political trap must be overcome through political skill, not stubbornness," Ramabaja said.
According to him, the solution could be achieved through a coalition or a political agreement that would enable the necessary constitutional amendments, particularly regarding the method of electing the president.
"This process requires either a broad political agreement, a coalition, or an arrangement that would guarantee an expedited process for implementing the necessary constitutional amendments so that the president is elected directly by the citizens," Ramabaja said.
He believes that both the Vetëvendosje Movement (Self-Determination) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) see such dialogue as necessary, adding that calling new elections would not solve the crisis.
"There is absolutely no point in holding new elections. This is especially true for the LDK, which is facing internal problems that could create serious difficulties for the party. I believe a solution will be found within the constitutional deadlines and that the country will emerge from this trap, creating the conditions for a stable government over the next four years," Ramabaja said.
Commenting on developments within the LDK, Ramabaja said that President Vjosa Osmani intends to return to the leadership of the party.
"Vjosa Osmani is fighting to take over the leadership of the LDK. She has already served as the party's leader, and as President of the Republic she cannot be elected to that office for another term, which is why her current efforts are focused on assuming the leadership of the LDK," Ramabaja said.
