Retired workers of JKPD “Ibar” in Zubin Potok: This occupation is the worst Serbs can experience

Former employees of the public utility company JKPD “Ibar” in Zubin Potok, who witnessed the closure of the institution where many had spent their working lives, described today’s events as one of the most painful scenes a Serb can witness on their own land.

Milos Milosavljevic, who retired just three months ago from this very company, said many families had depended on the utility for decades, and watching it fall under control was deeply distressing.

“None of our people have ever experienced anything like this—but we have. We witnessed this occupation. This is the worst thing the Serbian people can witness on their own land. We don’t even have the words anymore—because we see everything, and we no longer have the strength to speak. We don’t have the right to what is ours. We’re not our own on our own land. Don’t even ask. I retired three months ago from here. Many of us earned our bread here, for our families—but it seems that’s over now. We saw many things today. This place maintained the town—it handled sanitation, basic services. When they take over that, there’s nothing left for us. It’s catastrophic,” Milosavljevic said.

His former colleague, Stanko Vlaskovic, was also visibly emotional but said there’s still a glimmer of hope.

“It was a terrible sight—really bad, for all the workers. I don’t see a future here, at least that’s how I feel. But hope exists. We’ll see. I have nothing more to say,” Vlaskovic said briefly.
