Rohde and Guerot: If Kurti doesn't listen to his friends' advice, he'll be left alone

The ambassadors of Germany and France in Kosovo, Jorn Rohde and Olivier Guerot, in a joint interview for RTK, confirmed that there was a cooling of relations between the Government of Kosovo and the European Union.

They reported that they had told Prime Minister Albin Kurti that if he did not listen to the advice of his friends, he would follow the path he had chosen.

Ambassador Rohde stated that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had written to Kurti asking him to follow their advice, which he had not done.

"It is not good to be alone. We have been with Kosovo since 1999, and Germany has also given Pristina an incentive in the Council of Europe. How Kosovo can move forward if we have a cooling of relations, which must be coordinated," Rohde said.

According to him, it is clear that relations with the Government of Kosovo are cooling.

"We make demands, and they don't hear them, so we need a statesman, not one who talks about war all the time," Rohde said.

Ambassador of France Guerot also said that Kosovo should be "more practical and constructive".

"I believe that the Government of Kosovo could listen to us more and be less lonely. We were best friends and I believe we will continue to be," Guerot said.
