The Serb List to the Ambassadors of Germany and France: Return the monument to its original location and issue an apology
The Serb List tonight requested the Ambassadors of France and Germany in Kosovo to return the monument to the fallen Serbian soldiers to its original location and to issue an apology for its displacement. They assessed that the diplomats' acknowledgment that the monument to the fallen Serbian soldiers, victors in World War I, had been removed and relocated at their request, without the consent of the Eparchy Raska and Prizren or anyone from the Serbian community, spoke to the sad fact that the rights of the Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church in Kosovo were not respected by representatives of the leading countries of the European Union, as well as the Albin Kurti regime.
The Serb List emphasizes that the reaction of the Eparchy of Raska and Prizren, as an integral part of the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and a large number of significant personalities and intellectuals to the desecration of the monument to those who perished in the fight for freedom is normal and expected, because as they stated, the removal of the monument represented a gross insult to their descendants and all Serbs.
“The fact that 24 years after the conflict there are not 40,000 Serbs in Pristina does not give anyone the right to erase the traces of our existence just because it bothers someone while posing at that place. The bones of Serbian soldiers are embedded in the foundations of victory in World War I and are more valuable than any speeches, photographs, or a few flowers that anyone will bring“, the Serb List states.
The Serb List demands from the Ambassadors of Germany and France to return the monument to the fallen Serbian soldiers to its original location at the Orthodox cemetery in Pristina. They argue that the Ambassadors apparently succumbed to the pressure of some extreme circles in Pristina "who are bothered by everything Serbian and have insulted the Serbs with their actions“.
"We expect an apology from the German and French Embassies in Pristina to the Serbian people for this shameful act, if for nothing else, then for the alliance between France and Serbia mentioned by the respected Ambassadors in their statement. This apology and the return of the monument would send a message to everyone else that respecting the rights of the Serbs and our holy places is a civilized norm that should not be crossed", the Serb List concludes.
