The Serbian Parliament adopted the Report on Kosovo
Members of the Serbian Parliament adopted tonight the Report of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija on the negotiation process with Pristina, from September 1 to January 15.
154 deputies voted for the report, 23 were against it, and nine deputies did not vote.
The MPs discussed the Franco-German proposal, the situation in Kosovo, and the future of relations with Pristina for two days, 11 hours each.
President Aleksandar Vucic pointed out that there was nothing good for Serbia in that proposal, and that we all had a difficult time ahead of us, but that we had to talk, for the sake of the future of Serbia and the survival and safety of the Serbs in Kosovo.
On several occasions, he made it clear that he would not recognize Kosovo's independence and that he was against Kosovo's membership in the United Nations.
Part of the opposition demanded that the Franco-German plan be rejected immediately, while part of the opposition MPs were of the opinion that Europe had to be talked to and that it was in Serbia's interest to be a partner with Europe, and for them, this meant the introduction of sanctions against Russia.
Even today, in the assembly, the topic was diverted, also lithium, small hydroelectric power plants, the economy, and agriculture were discussed.
However, the session was overshadowed by yesterday's incident, when, after chanting, opposition MPs interrupted President Aleksandar Vucic's address and approached the place where he was sitting, advertising a violation of the Rules of Procedure.
The Serbian Progressive Party MPs intervened and there was a scuffle, on the verge of a physical conflict, and the incident lasted for about 15 minutes before the session continued.
The Report itself states that from September of last year to January of this year, there was an escalation of the crisis, as well as systemic discrimination and violence against the Serbs in Kosovo. It is emphasized that Prishtina was solely responsible for such a development.
He also adds that EU mediators and other international subjects characterized Belgrade as a constructive party in crisis situations. It is also emphasized that Belgrade would not give up on the demand that the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities be formed urgently, as well as that the Government of Serbia would continue to focus on the immediate protection of the security of the Serbs, as well as on the protection of Serbian national interests.
