Analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu told Kosovo Online that it will be very difficult for Vjosa Osmani to be elected to a second term, judging by the statements coming from opposition parties and bearing in mind that a two-thirds majority in the Assembly is required for her re-election.

In his assessment, it will not be easy for Osmani to be elected even in a possible third round of voting, because, as he says, 80 MPs must be present in the chamber and at least 61 MPs must vote for her.

“We will see whether anyone changes their positions by then,” Spahiu says.

Speaking about Osmani’s term, which is nearing its end, he states that she has not been a successful president of Kosovo.

“She was boastful and arrogant. Such a president does not bring honor to Kosovo. The president of Kosovo must be a man or a woman with more moderate views who, in international relations, succeeds in building Kosovo’s relations with the countries that Kosovo needs,” Spahiu says.

As for what Serbs can expect from her if she is re-elected, he says there would be no changes compared to her first term.

“Serbs and others know what she was like. One cannot expect her to be different in a second term from what she was like in the first,” he emphasizes.
