Spain, which presides over the European Union until the New Year, will not change its attitude towards Kosovo, Gazeta Express reported today, referring to an unnamed Spanish diplomat.

"Spain maintains the position that it does not recognize the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo. We defend the need for the Kosovo issue to be resolved through a dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina," said this diplomat.

He added that the former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Spain, now the head of diplomacy of the European Union, Josep Borrell, is very interested in solving the Kosovo issue.

"It is time to make a last effort to resolve the Kosovo issue. We have a high representative with a great interest in helping to resolve the conflict and we fully support the work of special representative Miroslav Lajcak," the unnamed diplomat told for Gazeta Express.
