Starovic: The US and the EU verbally condemn Kurti's unilateral moves, but without concrete measures

The Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran, and Social Affairs, Nemanja Starovic, stated, speaking about the closure of all Serbian Post offices on the territory of Kosovo, "that we are witnessing a pattern of unilateral measures carried out by the Prime Minister of the provisional Pristina institutions, Albin Kurti, as well as verbal condemnations of his actions in the US and European Union, but without concrete measures," Euronews Serbia reports.

In an interview with Prva TV, Starovic noted that the lack of reaction from the US and EU is a result of a lack of political will.

"It somewhat insults common sense. It would have been more honest if they had remained silent, not even issuing those verbal condemnations to the public, and if they had honestly said that Kurti had been given free rein to do as he pleases," Starovic said.

According to him, Kurti is aware of geopolitical changes, which is why he strives to antagonize members of the Serbian people.

"The situation on the ground is very difficult. The pressures on the Serbian people over the past two years have been very pronounced. The most vulnerable members of the Serbian community are particularly targeted, including pensioners, welfare recipients, and people living in small communities who are now being deprived of basic healthcare. Let's remember that the small clinic serving about a hundred Serbs remaining in Pristina, out of the 40,000 who lived there before the war, was closed," he said.

The Minister emphasizes that it is crucial not to fall into Albin Kurti's trap, which aims for armed conflict.

"And not an armed conflict with Pristina, but with NATO. By avoiding this trap of armed conflict with NATO, we must do everything in our power to further support our people, primarily through economic measures," Starovic said.

According to him, almost no Serbian family from the territory of Kosovo is without some form of financial support coming from Belgrade. He reminds that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, announced that by September, the state would ensure the livelihood of its people in Kosovo.

Speaking about the announcement of opening the bridge over the Ibar between northern and southern Kosovska Mitrovica, Starovic says this is a potentially significant point of escalation.

"For Serbs, it was the last point of resistance, the point at which Kosovska Mitrovica was preserved," he said, adding that the presence of KFOR guarantees the safety of our compatriots in Kosovo.
