Surlic: Attempt to "sell" CSM to Belgrade for the second time
Assistant professor of the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade, Stefan Surlic, assessed that there was an attempt to "sell" the CSM to Belgrade for the second time, although this had been achieved as a solution and model of autonomy for Serbs in Kosovo as early as 2013, RTS reports.
"At this moment, I don't see why the CSM should be part of any final agreement, because we have two separate processes - one is the status of the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija and their rights, which are constantly being violated, and the CSM as a framework that was promised to them a long time ago, and the other parallel process is the status of Kosovo that can be discussed. Currently, there are no conditions for finalizing the agreement," Surlic explained.
Surlic also mentioned that the issue of Kosovo was something that would also determine the destiny of Serbia in the European Union.
"I think that Serbia, despite all the criteria that were set for all countries during accession, will face difficult political issues and conditions, namely the final agreement with Pristina and the future relationship with Russia," Surlic says.
Surlic added that he encouraged the constructive approach of the United States in the latest negotiations between Belgrade and Pristina.
