Researcher at the Center for European Policies in Belgrade Marko Todorovic said that Kosovo, as new early parliamentary elections are approaching, remains stuck and that no one in Brussels is pleased about it.

“In Brussels, this is viewed with a certain level of disappointment, given that it will certainly make everything expected from Kosovo more difficult, both in terms of internal reforms and the withdrawal of funds from the Growth Plan through the implementation of the reform agenda,” Todorovic told Kosovo Online.

He explained that implementing the reform agenda involves numerous steps related to the adoption of legislative acts and everything that would move toward normalization of relations with Belgrade, which will now not be possible.

“Politically, it is very unpopular. So Kosovo remains stuck, and it seems that no one in Brussels is pleased with that,” Todorovic added.

Citizens of Kosovo will go to the polls again within 45 days after the failure to elect a new president.

While awaiting a decision on the date of the elections, the government and the opposition are blaming each other for the failure and for heading to elections for the fifth time in 16 months.
