US Embassy in Kosovo: We welcome the agreement on the implementation of the Law on Foreigners

The United States welcomes the news of the agreement reached on the implementation of the Law on Foreigners in Kosovo, and all changes affecting the Serbian community must be carried out in consultation with it, a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Pristina told Kosovo Online.

“The United States welcomes the announcement of the agreement reached on the implementation of the Law on Foreigners. We applaud the parties’ engagement on this issue to reach a mutually acceptable resolution,” the response states.

It is added that “any changes affecting the Kosovan Serb community should be done in close consultation with and with buy-in of the Kosovan Serb community.”

In Kosovo, the Law on Foreigners entered into force two days ago, but Serbs have been given a three-month deadline to obtain Pristina-issued documents, while those who work and study in the north will be issued temporary residence permits valid for one year.
