Vasic: I have sent a request to all relevant officials in Kosovo to allow Trajkovic to be released pending trial
Lawyer Dejan Vasic stated for Kosovo Online that today he had sent a request to all relevant officials in Kosovo, asking that his client Sladjan Trajkovic, who had been arrested, be released pending trial.
Vasic emphasized that Sladjan's family was willing to guarantee with all their property that he would participate in the proceedings.
"Today, on behalf of the family of Sladjan Trajkovic, who is accused of allegedly committing war crimes, I submitted a request that I sent to all relevant officials in Kosovo, starting with the heads of UNMIK and OSCE, through all relevant embassies in Pristina and international negotiators, Miroslav Lajcak, Josep Borrell, and Gabriel Escobar, with only one request: to, as much as possible, and as much authority as they have, allow Sladjan to be released pending trial. His family is ready to guarantee with all their property that they will participate in the proceedings, and Sladjan is strongly motivated to prove his innocence before the Pristina court", Vasic said.
Sladjan Trajkovic was a member of the Kosovo Police who, along with his colleagues, left this institution in early November of last year.
He was arrested a year ago and charged with war crimes, and since then, he has been in detention in Podujevo.
During his time in detention, his lawyer and family have repeatedly emphasized that Trajkovic was in very poor health and urgently needed hospital treatment.
