The acting Deputy Minister for Local Government Administration, Arber Vokrri, accused international representatives of encouraging unrest in northern Kosovo on several occasions, Koha reports.

Speaking on KTV, Vokrri stated that one of the diplomats he was referring to is the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav.

“International representatives themselves instigated some of the unrest—I personally witnessed several situations. I’m not necessarily saying these incidents were large-scale, but through their statements and meetings, they encouraged individuals associated with the Serb List to provoke unrest. These are diplomats, representatives of international institutions. I mentioned Mr. Orav as one of the EU representatives,” Vokrri said.

He went on to clarify specifically what he meant in Orav’s case:

“After one incident, where a group of political activists from the north—known for their ties to the Serbian state—had gathered, I saw on social media that these same individuals had met with him just a few hours before the unrest occurred. That is just one example,” Vokrri explained.

He added that if there is serious intent to de-escalate the situation in Kosovo, the international community needs to build closer ties and partnerships with Serb citizens who want to live a normal life in Kosovo.

Regarding the international community’s concerns over recent actions by the Kosovo police and the closure of institutions in the north, he said these concerns should be supported with reasoning.

“When it comes to potential concerns from the international community, I believe they should be backed by some justification or argumentation. So far, there has been no resistance from Serbian citizens—on the contrary, there have been greetings, followed by registrations and requests to receive services from these institutions,” the politician emphasized.
