Vucevic: I am not optimistic that a major conclusion will be reached at tomorrow's UN Security Council session
Serbian Prime Minister Milos Vucevic stated today that he is not optimistic that a major conclusion will be reached at tomorrow's United Nations Security Council session, given that the discussion involves countries with polarized views – those who regard Kosovo as an independent state and those who respect international law and the UN Charter.
“I am certain that any discussion in the Security Council will lead to a clear division between states that see Kosovo as an independent country and those that respect international law and the UN Charter. Those who believe Kosovo is independent will likely glorify or justify the actions of Albin Kurti, while those who respect international law will highlight the ongoing violations of basic human rights, which unfortunately happen daily to Serbs and non-Albanian populations in the territory of Kosovo and Metohija,” Vucevic said.
After presenting awards to students who achieved exceptional success in competitions across Europe and the world, Vucevic responded to reporters' questions and said that he was not optimistic that any major conclusion could be reached at that session.
“There will be polarized views and countries with veto rights. I am not particularly optimistic, but it is still good that the truth about Kosovo and Metohija is heard in the United Nations. That is always positive,” Vucevic noted.
