Vucic and General Grynkewich on the importance of preserving peace in Kosovo and protecting the Serbian people
Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with the commander of NATO's Supreme Allied Command Europe, General Alexus Grynkewich, and on that occasion emphasized the importance of preserving peace and stability in Kosovo, as well as the need to protect the Serbian people.
In a post on Instagram, Vucic said that he thanked Grynkewich for KFOR's stabilizing role and expressed hope that the NATO mission would continue to play its important role in safeguarding peace.
The two officials also discussed the current security situation in the region, as well as the importance of preserving peace and stability in the Western Balkans.
“I emphasized that preserving military neutrality is of key importance for Serbia, as is the continuation of responsible and professional cooperation with NATO through the Partnership for Peace program, with full respect for the interests of the Republic of Serbia and the policy we pursue,” Vucic wrote on his Instagram account, “buducnostsrbijeav”.
The Serbian President stressed that he particularly highlighted the importance of preserving peace and stability in Kosovo, as well as the need to protect the Serbian people and respect international law and UN Security Council Resolution 1244.
“I pointed out that today marks exactly twenty-seven years since the adoption of the Resolution, the key international framework for Kosovo and Metohija, which established an international civilian and security order aimed, among other things, at protecting the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija,” Vucic stated.
He expressed confidence that dialogue is the only path toward preserving stability and security in the region, adding that Serbia will continue to be a reliable and responsible partner in maintaining peace.
