Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic held a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding bilateral relations between the two countries, the European paths of Serbia and Ukraine, as well as possibilities for further enhancing economic cooperation and connectivity in areas of mutual interest, including discussions on concluding a free trade agreement.
“In that context, one of the topics was tomorrow’s visit by Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration and Trade Representative of Ukraine, which will represent an important step in further strengthening cooperation between our countries,” Vucic wrote on Instagram.
He added that he and Zelensky also discussed the importance of dialogue, mutual understanding, and a responsible approach to resolving problems, agreeing that peace and the preservation of human lives must remain priorities.
“We reaffirmed our commitment to further improving bilateral relations through open dialogue, mutual respect, and strengthening cooperation in areas of common interest, with a particular emphasis on economic cooperation as the foundation for long-term development and stability,” Vucic wrote.
News of the conversation with the President of Serbia was also announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“I spoke with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic about bilateral relations between our countries. We both believe they should be strong, and we see potential for their development,” Zelensky wrote on the social network X.
Noting that a representative of the Ukrainian government, the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, will visit Belgrade, Zelensky said he expects mutually beneficial agreements, including the continuation of negotiations on a free trade zone with Serbia.
