Vucic with Cardinal Parolin: We highly value the Holy See's principled position on the Kosovo issue

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic met with the State Secretary of the Holy See, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and expressed his high regard for the Holy See's principled position on the issue of Kosovo.

"An excellent meeting with Cardinal Parolin, with whom I discussed maintaining regular political dialogue at all levels, as well as Serbia's cooperation with the Roman Catholic Church, which is good, marked by mutual respect and a commitment to further improvement. I mentioned that the Republic of Serbia is determined to continue nurturing and enhancing constructive relations with the Holy See, as we share views on many international issues, primarily the protection of Christians and Christian heritage, as well as the promotion of human rights for Christians," Vucic wrote on his Instagram account.

On this occasion, he emphasized that for Serbia, the protection, respect, and improvement of the rights of the Serbian and other non-Albanian populations in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as the protection and restoration of Serbian religious and cultural heritage, Orthodox cemeteries, and endangered cultural monuments, especially Orthodox churches and monasteries under UNESCO protection, are of fundamental importance.

He emphasized that the Holy See's principled stance on the issue of Kosovo's independence is highly appreciated.

"We highly appreciate the Holy See's principled position on not recognizing the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and its understanding of Serbia's position, which is based on respect for international law. We also discussed other topics of mutual interest," Vucic concluded.
